Karlovy Vary 2017 to host Iran cinema

The 2017 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) held in the Czech Republic has chosen a number of Iranian films to go on screen at the 52nd edition of the event.

The festival, to be held from June 30 to July 8, will screen some Iranian films, including ‘76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Kiarostami’ by Seifollah Samadian, ‘Take Me Home’ by Abbas Kiarostami, and ‘Lerd’ by Mohammad Rasoulof.

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and the most prestigious in Central and Eastern Europe.

It is one of the oldest A-list film festivals, a category it shares with the festivals of Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastian, Moscow, Montreal, Shanghai, and Tokyo.

Among filmmakers, buyers, distributors, sales agents, and journalists, KVIFF is considered as the most important event in all of Central and Eastern Europe.

Intended for both film professionals and the general public, the festival annually presents some 200 films from around the world, and regularly hosts famous and important filmmakers.
